NEW Femkes JoyCee – Reviewed

Superb review from @4x4North for the new Femkes JoyCee. Translated below (Thank you Google Translate) original can be seen here https://www.instagram.com/p/ChP9KyItNsw/

Then we are finally here, the holiday is over and the test is also over.
Just before this year's big trip, I got in touch with @norwegianexplorervans where I was able to borrow the very latest tent from @femkesrooftoptents, Femkes Joycee! In exchange for being allowed to borrow a tent, I have now tested the tent to find out if this is a tent that can be recommended for long and hard trips, but also for those who go on short weekend trips. And I can already say that there is not much to complain about this tent! So now after a long trip where it has been dragged through forest and fields, mud, scrub and mountains, the feedback finally comes!

After the first night in the tent, I must say that it lived up to all expectations. It is quick to set up and easy to pack up again. The tent comes with a thick tempur mattress which is one of the best standard mattresses in a roof tent that I have tested. The mattress is comfortable to lie on, even if you lie on your side. There is also plenty of space to pack up the tent with duvet and pillows. The cloth is opaque, which is a big plus up north with long bright nights. I have not experienced any condensation either on the sheet, on the ceiling or under the mattress.

I have now used it for over 2 weeks straight and only had two days of sun, otherwise it has only been a lot of rain and wind.
The water bounces nicely off the canvas and I haven't found a drop of water inside, even when I packed the tent so soft. Every other tent I've tried has gotten damp on the inside if I pack it up wet. There is also little flapping in the canvas in strong winds.

The tent also has many nice features, such as that the roof piece can be removed completely, unfolded as a larger roof or used as shown in the pictures. It comes with a shoe bag, which is also tight in bad weather so it keeps your shoes dry. You also get a "shelf" system that you can hang up inside. The gas springs can be locked in position if there is to be a heavy storm or large amounts of snow so that it does not collapse in the middle of the night while you sleep.

The design of the shell is aerodynamic and has little effect on fuel consumption. The tent itself is incredibly light and you hardly notice it's there while driving.

So can I recommend the tent to someone?
The answer YES!

Roof Top Tent Camping Weekend

We’re still looking forward to welcoming all the roof top tent campers to the Rooftent Utopia roof tent camping weekend here at our HQ in Chichester West Sussex.

Something to note though: the fire pit wont be lit and no other fires will be permitted. With the current weather conditions and the strain the local emergency services are already under it would be irresponsible.

We think the weekend will be warm enough anyway!

Thank you for your understanding.

Camping at Rooftent Utopia

In conjunction with the Roof tent Camping UK Facebook group we are planning a camping weekend at our HQ in Chichester on the 12th-14th August. Cost is £12.50 per unit per night with 50% of the money being donated to the local children’s charity Sussex Snowdrop Trust which provides nursing care at home for children who have life threatening or terminal conditions.

The camping field is a nice flat area and is equipped with water stand pipes and for those that don’t have their own facilities, there will be porta-loos provided. There is also a large fire pit with log benches around it for our social evenings.

An ideal opportunity for the #rooftentcurious to check out the wide range of setups and rigs that people have created and enjoy, gather hints and tips and plan future adventures.  Set in 2 acres of flat grassy field, this is minimal frills camping and a chance to gather around the communal fire pit in the evening. Children are very welcome.

If you fancy a trip out during the day the weald and downland museum, Tangmere aviation museum, Goodwood, Chichester and Bognor Regis are all a short drive away. If you don’t fancy straying far then you are of course welcome to remain on site and take a look and ask questions about other peoples set-ups, (providing they are on site of course!)

And……..adjacent to the camping field is the Gribble Inn which not only looks very nice but also has its own micro-brewery and an outside seating area to enjoy the Sussex sunshine!

Our workshop and showroom will be open on the Saturday morning, and we may even make some special deal packages to temp you with.

So if you have your own full set up and are seasoned campers or are just want to take a look and have a couple of nights low key camping this is for you.

Booking is essential, please let us know if you’re interested in coming along info@rooftentutopia.com

Lowdown on Overland

Here are some photos from our stand at the recent Adventure Overland Show at Stratford Upon Avon. We took a variety of roof tents and met lots of interesting people over the course of the jubilee weekend. The weather was a mixed bag, but that didn’t dampen the spirits. The Skadu 2 proved very popular as people got to see how flexible it can be and easily adapted to suit varying conditions.  The quality of the Dare to be different range was also appreciated, its so valuable to be able to see and touch a real product, rather than just pictures online.  The attention to detail in the design and the small enhancements that make it more durable and well suited to camping in the European climate all shine through. We also took Utoka, Eco Flow, Ello Camping, Sheepie and Femkes products with us, if you want to find out more feel free to get in touch.

Spring Clean

With a hint of Spring in the air it’s been great to get the showroom re-arranged and make space for some of the new models that have arrived and are coming into stock over the spring. Excitingly developments in RTT have come thick and fast and they are now available in many shapes, sizes and even colours, so selecting the correct model is a key stage of getting set for your adventures.  Having a wide range of roof tents on display in one location allows time and space to test and compare, and the confidence to make a more informed decision.  As it looks increasingly like lockdowns are becoming a thing of the past we are pleased to be able to open the doors fully once more and welcome you into the showroom.

NEW BRAND! – Yakima

Pleased to finally get back into mainland Europe and visit some of our partners, catch up with their news, see new & exciting products and adjust to the post-Brexit rules and regulations.

Over the new few weeks we will be showing some of the various new products, roof top tents (RTT) and associated accessories that we are able to offer in store.

First one out of the box is the Skyrise HD3 from Yakima.  A great quality product that’s really nicely put together and well thought out.  It is easy to use, spacious and comes with a thick and comfy mattress and the removable fly-sheet.  There are plenty of windows and sky lights that allow ventilation and light to be controlled to optimise your camping trip.

We also have an optional annex room available if required.

We are really pleased to add Yakima to our RTT range.
